The insperation behind this piece: My sister, Kennedi!
The colors in her piece—pink, blue, and yellow/gold—are her favorites to blend together, even though she didn’t realize how often she used them until I pointed it out in all her room decor. The earrings represent her exact piercings, the cat is brown to match her hair color, and the boots, flowers, and hiking stick reflect her career path and love for the outdoors. I chose a cat for her creature because of her deep love for her cat, Nallie. Nallie came into Kennedi’s life at the beginning of her college career, and they have been inseparable ever since, growing alongside each other.
The sun symbol is especially meaningful. It represents our Aunt Cindy, who passed away in March 2019 and had a sun tattoo. My sisters, cousins, and I all got sun tattoos in her honor, creating a strong connection to what it represents.
